Thank you Mr. Noguchi and Mr. mizuno, to give me a chance to make
some comment here. My name is Nobuo Kishi, a nember
of the house of councillors, National Diet.
It is very meaningful that this meeting was held
immediately after Gleneagles Summit. At the summit,
Japan issued a message to Africa which includes
support to protect the health of people in Africa
through agricultural development and medical assistance
as well. Such research and development must promote
the health of people in Africa, and must be the
one that should lead them stand on their own feet.
As mentioned in the subtitle of the symposium, we
have to think that what and how we can contribute
to Africa. Not only supplying the fund, more important
is to supply human resources in the research field.
Japan has a lot of talented human resources. We
should continue supporting to increase the number
of experts of Africa. Thank you very much.

今回J-FARD&JIRCAS国際シンポジウム会議にてコメントする機会を頂きまして、野口氏と水野氏に感謝申し上げます。私は参議院議員岸信夫と申します。
この会議がグリーンイーグルスサミットの直後に行われたことは大変意義のあるものであります。サミットにおいて発表した我が国のアフリカに対するメッセージの中で、農業開発と医療の支援を通じアフリカの人々の健康を守ることの推進を表明しております。農業分野の研究開発が真にアフリカの人々の健康を推進し、自立につながるものでなくてはなりません。
会議のサブタイトルにもあるように、日本がアフリカに貢献すべきこと、出来ることを考えた場合、資金提供のみならず、研究分野への人材の提供がより重要であります。我が国は優秀な人材を豊富に抱えており、アフリカのエキスパートを増やすことを政策決定面からもサポートしてゆくべきであると考えます。
